
Deputy district administrator helmut fischer recently presented five members of the burgkunstadt DLRG with a badge of honor on behalf of interior minister joachim herrmann for their many years of service to the german lifesaving society.
In accordance with its mission statement, the DLRG has made it its task to ensure the safety of people in, around and on the water, helmut fischer emphasized. With this award, the DLRG takes on an important social task. This task is lived in bavaria in more than one hundred local organizations. The tasks are varied and range from water rescue service, sanitation service, cooperation in disaster control and civil-military cooperation to training in swimming and rescue swimming.
Helmut fischer was particularly pleased that many people in the district also volunteered for the DLRG. The award of the state honorary medal is intended to express gratitude and recognition for the volunteer work performed. While helmut fischer presented certificates and the honorary ribbon for 25 and 40 years of service and the rough honorary ribbon for 50 years of service, werner schneider, the chairman of the DLRG burgkunstadt, praised the achievements of the five honored.
Dirk dumlein from burgkunstadt, who was honored for 25 years of service, is a rescue swimmer who distinguished himself through his work during the snow disasters in the bavarian forest and in bad reichenhall, as well as during flood operations on the elbe. Dirk scheibel from burgkunstadt, who was also honored for 25 years of service, is available as a rescue swimmer and boat driver, as well as for watch duty, and is also responsible for the entire fleet (boats and vehicles).
Rudolf zapf from altenkunstadt has been in active service for 40 years and has been a lifeguard at the open-air swimming pool for the same length of time. In addition, he is the leader of the diving group and has been helpful during the snow disasters in the bavarian forest and the flood operations on the elbe river.
Even for half a century jurgen blenk from burgkunstadt has been active as a lifeguard in the lifeguard service. He had built up the DLRG's technical department in burgkunstadt in the 1970s and also the technical department in the bavarian state association. In addition, he was active in the training of teachers as lifeguards in central and upper franconia. Within the association, he is also responsible for radio communications in all operations.
50 years as a lifeguard
Robert wilm from obersdorf has also been working as a DLRG lifeguard for 50 years and is available as a trained sanitary technician for all operations. In the association, he was head of finances for 20 years and chairman for another 20 years. As a trained swimming instructor, he and volker thormahlen are in charge of swimming lessons in the elementary school of altenkunstadt, burgkunstadt and weismain, which is a project of the DLRG burgkunstadt with the AOK and the ministry of health under the patronage of minister melanie huml.
Mayors congratulated
The mayor of altenkunstadt, robert hummer, the mayor of hochstadt, thomas kneipp, and the third mayor of burgkunstadt, manfred hofmann, congratulated the honorees for their communities. Finally, the DLRG chairman from burgkunstadt, werner schneider, presented helmut fischer with the commemorative medal of the DLRG foundation of bavaria.
