Oscar winner halle berry, 55, will receive the honorary "icon" of the year award at the people's choice awards in december.
This was announced by the distributors of the audience awards on friday. The actress, producer and director is honored for her services to film and television and for her social commitment.
Berry was the first black woman to win the oscar for best leading actress for "monster's ball" in 2002.
